Wednesday night may be the official evening of cross practice in NYC but with a slow week in the office, near perfect weather and the opening weekend of cyclocross just a few days away the timing was perfect for an impromptu evening of cyclocross.

Team Health Warrior's Tom Hendry recaps his experiences at the races (and the petting zoo) at what is arguably the best stage race in the Northeast: Tour de Millersburg in lovely Millersburg, PA.

As we tick off the final few road races of the year it’s increasingly #crossiscoming time. Which also means Wednesday night cyclocross practice has kicked off in New York City. While it’s largely an informal affair with plenty of time to catch up with friends and fellow racers, we also had National Champion Jeremy Powers join in the fun last year. We’ll just have to see whether we can top it in the coming year… (anyone have Wout’s phone number?)

For the past few weeks here in NYC it's been Jakarta hot out. We've found ourselves breaking into a sweat like Mel Gibson in "The Year of Living Dangerously" just thinking about riding our bikes. In such conditions, we put a premium on any piece of kit that is super light and super breathable. Fortunately, this year we expanded our kit order to include LG’s Course Supperleggera (Italian for “super light”) jersey. Being put into such heavy rotation recently by many of the guys on the team recently, the timing is right to share our impressions.

With the 'real feel' temperature reaching levels best described as brutal, we couldn't fathom a summer Sunday pounding the pavement on road bikes. Instead we headed for the shade of the trails for a bit of #crossiscoming singletrack action. There were a few spills along the way and the temps still wavered at uncomfortable levels, but with a mid-ride swim it was pretty much the perfect escape from NYC.

For the majority of the year the squad focuses on living the Health Warrior Way. We mix the demands of day jobs and the hustle and bustle of living in New York City with early mornings training and even earlier mornings racing bikes. Thankfully this at times intense athletic regime does not preclude the squad from the occasional (or perhaps more than occasional) night out on the town.

Team Health Warrior’s resident climber extraordinaire, Richard Scudney, packed his bags and headed west, hoping to strike gold at Oregon’s 37th annual Cascade Cycling Classic. What he found instead was stunning scenery and a near bout of altitude sickness.

While the 2016 road season may be approaching it's conclusion (#crossiscoming) the Central Park race calendar is surprisingly busy in August, including this past weekend's CRCA Power Points race. This meant yet another early morning for the squad with a breakfast fueled by Health Warrior before heading to Central Park. From that point things went a bit haywire when a significant number of marshals no-showed, delaying the start of the race and downgrading the format from Power Points to a plain old points race. Of course that's still more than a half dozen sprints, so it was going to be a tough day of racing regardless.
