Mental Health is a very broad subject with many different definitions and ideas. For many individuals and cultures in the world, mental health means happiness, joy, and well-being whereas for others it means coping with stress, anxiety, sadness, or other challenges. Mental Health Awareness Month is celebrated every October in the United States to promote the prevention of conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD and ADHD.

Mental health can be difficult to define because it is subjective and, often, not well understood. What one person may consider “sick” is another person’s “healthy”. It all comes down to what that individual feels is best for them

Anxiety disorders are a type of mental illness that causes significant levels of distress or impairment in a person’s daily life. Symptoms include experiencing unmanageable feelings, such as intense worry and dread, or an overwhelming sense of impending danger. There is no singular cause for anxiety disorders, but they can usually be traced to an individual’s reaction to stressful life events or a combination of biological, genetic and environmental factors.
